I have given this some serious thought and after conversations with lots of different people in my life, from family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances, I have felt the need to create some posts and some videos on how to commute with minimal risk to yourself and how it empowers you to feel the awesomeness of the great outdoor gym.
Here’s my story to get you started…..
I have loved cycling since I was three years old when my dad removed the stabilisers off my bike. I continued to cycle right through my teens and into early adulthood. When I began working, it was never practical for me to commute on a bike and my love for driving the car had begun.
It wasn’t until some years later that I got on my bike again and began commuting. I have been commuting now for over eight years. I have cycled through all conditions including snow.
My current commute is 43 miles a day, 4 days a week and on that commute, I see a lot of cyclists. Some just pottering along to the shops and others are true commuters doing a few miles to those that are like me and travel quite far. They range from the amateur to the veterans. The behaviour on the road of amateurs versus the veterans is so very different and the behaviour of motorists is completely different to the two styles of cycling. I will explain all of this in one of my chapters.
